inconvenience...

when i am ten feet behind you, why are you holding the door for me? honestly, it is an inconvenience for everyone involved. allow me to explain:

i think we all agree that when walking through a door, it is an awkward ass position when extending our arm backward trying to push the door open so that the person behind us will not have to completely open it themselves. therefore, i appreciate who ever is willing to do that for me; thank you for relieving me of the inconvenience of opening the door myself. however, if you do that shit when i am virtually nowhere near you, there emerges a problem: i now have to speed up my pace by walking faster or even running in order to take advantage of your favor. essentially, i must inconvenience myself in order to not be inconvenienced, and also to acknowledge the fact that you have inconvenienced yourself in an effort to relieve me of the inconvenience of opening the door myself. this is when i get annoyed.

is it better to run to the open door (that you have so graciously held open for me) or walk to the closed one (that i can open myself)? if i walk to the open door, thus making you hold it open even longer, am i an ass hole? if you hold the door open although i am several feet behind you (and you expect me to pick up the pace), are you a dumbass?

yes. consequently, i will not run or even speed walk upon your attempt to relieve me of the inconvenience of opening the door, because in assuming that you are helping me, you have defeated your purpose by making me work harder. thanks though =)
